We are hiring swim instructors across Houston. If you know how to teach someone to swim and you are good with kids, we would love to hear from you.

We teach private lessons at families' own pools rather than at a swim school, and that changes the job more than it sounds like it would.
You actually get to teach
Almost every lesson is one swimmer. No lane of eight, no whistle, no crowd control — just you and the person you are teaching, working at their pace.
They become your students
You keep the families you are matched with. You get to watch a kid go from holding the wall to swimming the length, and that progress is yours.
No six in the morning pool deck
Lessons are at families’ own pools, mostly afternoons, evenings and weekends. It fits around school, another job, or training.
We bring the equipment
Every piece of gear a lesson needs comes with you, and it is ours rather than yours. You show up ready to teach.
What matters most to us
Experience teaching people to swim. Honestly, that is the main thing. It might be swim school lessons, lifeguard instruction, coaching a summer league team or running a learn-to-swim program — we care that you have taught, far more than where you did it.
If you have swum competitively but never taught, get in touch anyway. Teaching is learnable. Patience with a frightened six-year-old is the harder half, and it is the half we cannot train into someone.
Helpful, but not required
CPR and First Aid certification is genuinely useful and we are glad when someone has it — but not having it is no reason to skip the email. The same goes for WSI or any other teaching certificate: welcome, not expected. We would take someone who has taught a hundred lessons over someone with a fresh certificate and none.
The practical bits
You will be driving to your students, so you need a car you can rely on, a valid license and your own auto insurance.
Everyone goes through a background check before their first lesson. We are asking parents to let you into their backyard with their child, and the check is part of how we earn that. We handle it, and it is quick.
This is a W-2 job. You would be an employee rather than a contractor, with tax withheld the normal way.
Where and when you would teach
Our families are spread across Memorial, Spring Branch, Bellaire, West University, Midtown and the inner loop, Katy and Cinco Ranch, The Woodlands, Cypress and Spring and Klein. We try to keep each instructor's students clustered in one part of town so your day is mostly teaching rather than driving — so tell us where you are based and how far you are happy to travel.
Most lessons land in the late afternoon, early evening and at weekends, since that is when children are out of school. Daytime availability helps for adult students and over the summer.
